Former UN staff demanded for judicial inquiry against polio recruitment in FATA

LANDIKOTAL: A local former staff of United Nation (UN) Sajjad Ali on Monday alleged that World Health Organization (WHO) in KP and FATA hired non local staff in which the required domicile was of tribal areas. This clearly shows that recruitment were totally against their own criteria for hiring staff for particular location, further he demanded for judicial inquiry of recruitment in Polio project.

Speaking to press conference at Landikotal press club, he claim that Dr Kashif, Dr Fahad, Dr Ghayasuddin, Dr Misal Khan and Dr Tufail is involved in corruption, they hired their love one and relative in FATA particularly in Khyber Agency. Further he claim that several upper positions allotted to their choice peoples.

He mentions that a lot of well-educated and experienced locals were ignored; the non-local staffs are not familiar with locals which also become the reason of increase polio refusal cases in FATA.

Further Ali alleged that they have conducted test and interviews for hiring but that was only for fulfilling their formalities not the real merit system base hiring. Despite having many years’ experience in the same field with same organization in FATA with good track record but my documents were ignored and even they are not renewing my contract with no reason.

Even most of the recruited staff was belong to their own families and relative one those even not fulfilled the criteria of qualification and experience for desired positions. UN-WHO official hired four staff member from the same family which is completely against the UN rules and violated merit system as well. The one who has links with higher staff are easily got the job without any official process.

Ali said that Dr Tufail hired an Afghan refugee identified as Turyalay working as polio mentor on the Torkham border. He said that several letters were sent to Fata Secretariat officials about the blunder and corruption of the polio staff recruiting in FATA. But till date I have not received any response and didn’t see any actions against this biased system.

Sajjad Ali appealed from Prime Minister of Pakistan and head of UN officials to take notice of this kind of corruptions in FATA and KP, and conduct inquiry to identified corrupt peoples in polio recruitment which will avoid future polio refusal cases in FATA.
